During winter, in times of stress and after pregnancy, your hair can become really boring. Use some homemade hair treatments to add some nutrition and shine! :-)

Below you’ll find some recipes and instructions on how to make various hair masks and conditioners to pamper your hair. And if you are a new mom (or well – a mom), try to have someone else take care of your baby while you spend some time on your own in the bathroom!

If that’s not possible, put your baby in a bathtub (if he/she is steady enough to sit) or in a baby bouncer and get going! Just don’t ever leave your baby alone in the tub.

Since your hair can be really dry and boring as a new mom, let’s start with some homemade hair treatments for dry hair!

Avocado and mayonnaise

It may seem a bit strange to apply mayonnaise to your hair all the way to the hair tips, but it is a really good conditioner!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 ripe avocado
  • 1 small jar of real mayonnaise

Instructions:
Mash the avocado and mix it with the mayonnaise. Apply to your clean hair and leave it on for 15-20 minutes. You’ll get the best effect if you use a shower cap, plastic wrap or warm towel to add some body heat to the process. Rinse off.

Avocado and coconut milk

If you don’t like the idea of using mayonnaise, try mixing the avocado with coconut milk.

Ingredients:

  • 1 avocado
  • Coconut milk

Instructions:
Mash the avocado and mix with enough coconut milk to make the conditioner smooth and the right consistency for hair treatment. Tip: Add the milk slowly so that the conditioner does not become too loose.) Apply it to your hair and leave for some 20 minutes. Rinse off. Again, it is good to somehow seal the body heat in by using a shower cap or towel for example.

Castor oil and egg yolk

Castor oil and egg yolk is another a great conditioner!

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon of castor oil
  • 1 egg yolk

Instructions:
Just mix the egg yolk with the castor oil. Apply it to your hair and leave for some 10 minutes. Rinse off. This conditioner can be used every time you wash your hair.

Avocado and egg yolk

Finally, avocado and egg yolk is also a great conditioner!

Ingredients:

  • 1 avocado
  • 1 egg yolk

Instructions:
Mash the avocado and mix the egg yolk. Apply it to your hair and leave for some 20 minutes. Rinse off.
