About Easy Baby Life

Easy Baby Life: Taking care of a baby
I'm Paula, founder of this site, mother of three of which I'm the birth mom of two. My oldest son is my beloved stepson. Since I met him when he was still very young, he was the one who had to endure my first efforts of diapering and feeding a baby - not to mention coping with all those sleepless nights!

As a new mom I was exhausted! Not all the time, but too often. But when our youngest child was born, things really were easier despite the fact that his sister was only 18 months older. There were things that I had learnt, tips that worked (and that didn't work) and I knew more about how to deal with and enjoy the first very intensive year.

That was when I decided to dedicate time to help other new parents, by starting a web site filled with practical been-there-done-that tips on baby care. Over time, Easy Baby Life has grown to also include evidence-based research and information about pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, baby care and simply coping with life as a new parent. We (me and some fantastic, volunteering moms) also started our Baby Help Line a few years ago, where we answered several hundred questions. And a lot of visitors still offer their help and thoughts too, which is invaluable.

In September 2011, we silently launched a new community. It has much better functionality than the old Help Line, and being a member site, the risk of mean, spammy comments that we have to delete, is much lower. Please join the Easy Baby Life community here and start interacting with other new parents in a friendly, safe community.

I love children! And having studied infant psychology and cognitive behavioral models and therapy for children, I strongly believe in the importance of responding to your child's needs as well as focusing on positive reinforcement rather than on punishment. This foundation can probably be seen around here, for example through a lack of support of cry-it-out methods, disciplining of small children, and fear of spoiling babies.

But no matter what your thoughts are on these issues, I hope you will be able to find a lot of valuable help and information here to make daily life with your young family member as pleasant as possible.

I will continue to develop Easy Baby Life. If you want to help out, join our community and share your experiences. You can also contact me here if you want to discuss co-operation, ideas on tips that should be included or just about anything related to Easy Baby Life. I'll be more than happy to listen to you!

Take care,

Paula
