Winding shouldn't be painful
by: Baby Help Line

Hi Sandra!

I think you should talk to your baby's doctor about this. Winding shouldn't be painful. It is hard to say why this is happening, but one possibility that comes to my mind is acid reflux or GERD (Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease) This is when the baby's stomach content comes right back up again, causing pain and spitting up. It is a very common condition that grows away, but form some babies it is painful enough that they may need medication.

I have no idea if this is what is causing your baby's pain, but it could be.

Anyhow, talk to a pediatrician to get help.

I really wish you good luck,

Paula

Second opinion?
by: Baby Help Line

Hi,

Maybe you should see another pediatrician? It is quite common that reflux is mistakenly diagnosed with colic.

There's even a good book about it called "Colic Solved: The Essential Guide to Infant Reflux and the Care of Your Crying, Difficult-to- Soothe Baby"

Just a very small piece of advice; have you tried both feeding your baby in a more upright position and burping more often, so that it is not so much air that needs to come out?

Of course your baby shouldn't be in pain! Seek more help, that is the best advice I can give you.

I really wih you good luck!

/Paula
