Vomiting 13 Month Old - Milk Allergy?

My 13 month old son is vomiting everything he eats or drinks. His diet consists of table food and whole milk. At first we thought he was developing a lactose intolerance so we tried Lactaid and he continued to throw up massive amounts. This isn't just spit up, he has no fever, but he also hasn't had a bowel movement since he started throwing up.

First of all, make sure that he consumes enough extra fluids to restore what he has lost through vomiting. You also have to check if he is peeing, and if not, then the vomiting is causing dehydration and you need to take him to a doctor immediately.

Vomiting can be caused by several health conditions, and when it lasts longer than 24-48 hours, it is advisable to seek medical advice.

Common causes of vomiting among toddlers include infections, reflux, and food allergies. Your doctor will examine your baby and then will decide if additional tests are needed to determine the cause of the vomiting.

You also ask about milk allergy. This could certainly be the case, especially if you just recently started with whole milk. Be aware that lactose free dairy will not help in such case, because it is the protein, not the sugar that he can't tolerate. If this is the case, try to take him off all dairy products for a few weeks and see if it helps.
