Sleep Problem 15 Months Old Daughter

by indy lok
(melbourne)

My daughter usually sleep through the night (7.30pm -7.30am) but from 1 week now she's wake up through the night crying and so hard to settle back.

She had a really bad cough a week ago, but she had medicine and now she doesn't have the cough anymore. So I have no idea why she keeps waking up at night, because she was a really good sleeper before she got sick. I don't know what to do? thankx

She'll sleep
by: Paula (Baby Help Line)

Hi Indy,

How great to have such a good sleeper. At her age not all babies are. Regarding her now waking up, I wouldn't be too surprised if that behavior will soon disappear. It is quite common that babies have shaky periods and wake up while they are ill and for a period after. If she is still coughing a bit or has a stuffy nose or possible a sore throat, try raising the head end of her bed a bit and see if it helps.

And really, if you can relate her waking up to when she got ill, just wait her out for while, because she is very likely to to back to sleeping through the night.

If the crying continues long after she is completely well again, then write back an we'll figure out how to help her.

Warm wishes,

Paula
