Scab On Top Of Babys Head

My 4 year old has a nasty scab on top of his head. Don't know what it's from. His hair is in the scab. Should I leave it alone, put meds on it? I don't know.

Cradle Cap?
by: Baby Help Line

Hi there,

I don't know what the scab looks like, but if it is yellowish and sticky, it is likely to be cradle cap. You can find out more about cradle cap and how to treat it here.

If it is something completely different, post back here again.

Hope this helps,

Paula

she is 7 month and her mother feeds her with anchor milk and sugar. and the grandmother thinks that she has sores because she is been fed by sugar.
Her sores are similar to X-ma but it just keeps spreading.

Doctor's visit
by: Baby Help Line -

Hi Shari,

I have personally heard of sugar causing sores, but I do think that the baby could use a visit to a doctor for examination. There are many reasons for rashes and some might need treatment, while others go away naturally.

I wish you good luck,

Paula

Same thing
by: Aaron

My 11 month old boy has the same thing on the back of his head. A yellowish small round circle that looks itch and looks somewhat open and slightly raised. We just noticed it the other day, It has been two days now. What could it be? He does suffer from cradle cap, could it be from that?

Unsure?
by: Katie

my son is 4 months old and I am having the same issue... he has very dry skin on his head and has had it since about a week after he was born. Just a couple days ago he got a spot on the back of his head that just looked like it had been rubbing against something a lot. it formed a thin layer of what looked like new skin and then tonight when it fell off again from him just moving his head against the carseat our clothes etc. it looked as though some sort of clear fluid (not a lot) was coming out of the area and it appears to be raised? I am very concerned and am going to the Dr in the morning but was hoping to find something on here about it to ease my mind for the evening..
