Scary Pregnancy Classes Or Useful Childbirth Education?Your Choice!Home >
Your pregnancy >
![]() They showed pictures of newborn babies, talked about pain relief, showed the forceps (scary!!!) and talked a bit about the labor pain. I also learned that it is important to breastfeed and that these days you are not allowed to stay for very long at the hospital after giving birth; "parents bond much better with their new child at home". Wow, I felt so prepared to give birth after that class. Not. Luckily I also attended a prenatal yoga class before giving birth. There I was taught the importance and techniques of relaxation. I was given some exercises to help opening my pelvic bones. I listened to the teacher's stories from her own, natural childbirths, and how she once during labor tried to not relax, but instead scream and tense her muscles during a contraction. She would never do it again, she said. The pain was unbearable. Learning about natural childbirth, relaxation, breathing and different position that will help your baby enter the world as quickly, safely and painless as possible really helps. Not all regular pregnancy classes will teach you that. Mine sure didn't. But don't despair. There is now a really good childbirth education available online and worldwide. It spans over 7-12 weeks (or less if you are in a hurry) and will teach you everything you need to know to dare giving birth naturally. You'll find the classes here. Don't miss out!
