No More Poopby Anonymous
I have a 10 week old son that only poops once every 3 or 4 days!! Baby Help Line Response: Hi Mom! I understand your worrying and I think you did the completely right thing to talk to your baby's doctor. However, when a baby is around 8 weeks old, his digestive system has matured enough to reduced the number of poops to 1 time per day on average. Since you are breastfeeding and your baby is in no pain (and is peeing and eating as usual?) you really don't have to worry. Breastfed babies almost "can't" become constipated. At around 3 months old, two of my kids had periods of up to 14 days with no poop! No pain, no illness, they just made use of all the breast milk they consumed. So don't worry, the poop will come! If you want some more detail on signs of constipation, check out this answer to another worried mom. Good luck! And what beautiful son you have! /Paula
