My Husband Does Not Stay At Home

by Matet
(Mountain province, Philippines)

My husband does not seem to have interest in our baby. He goes out when he doesn't have work. I do the washing of diaper, changing diaper, burping(day and night), cooking, washing plates and everything that needs to be done inside the house. When i ask him to take care of our baby for me to take a bath or do something for myself, he wants me to do things in a hurry. I never had enough time for myself and i feel very tired, depressed and exhausted. What will I do to let him stay inside the house and do things that he should do?

I think you during dinner time, you should casually bring up the subject of feeling lonely and tired doing everything by yourself. Explain to him that if both partners work together, so much can be accomplished for your family, especially for the baby. Don't make it seem like it's his fault because he will automatically feel defensive and not want to hear you out and/or fix his behavior. Express your feelings of sadness and exhaustion due to not having any time to rest, and that if he helped out a little bit, sometimes, you would have more energy and not feel as though you're the only one who cares for the baby. And remember, it took two to tango; such that, he needs to get his priorities straight and take responsibility for his own flesh and blood. Period.
