My Child Cries With Every Bowel Movement
My daughter cries while making bowel movement and the stool is not hard. She cries, gets red in the face and makes a gasping sound. Does anyone know what's wrong with her? Baby Help Line Response Hi! How old is you baby? If she is relatively newborn, it is probably normal. Newborn babies have immature digestive systems and often strain and are in pain even to pass breastmilk poop, whish is by no means hard. Another reason could be if your daughter has been constipated recently. Some babis seem to get scared of passing stools and cry after a period of constipation, when pooping was obviously painful. If so, this will pass. Food allergy or intolerance can also reasons, including lactose intolerance and celic disease. If your baby is not newborn or has been recently constipated, what you can try is to switch to another formula (for example soy based or hydrosalyte) if your daughter is formula fed. If this doesn't help, I think you should contact a doctor to discuss the situation and possible intolerances etc. I wish you good luck! /Paula The information provided on this site is not intended nor recommended as a substitute for professional medical advice.
