Milk Sensitivity?

My baby is 8 weeks old. At 5 weeks he was hospitalized with a low grade fever and diarrhea.

After the diarrhea cleared up a few days later he seemed constipated. Now he has liquidy poots about 4 or 5 times a day. It's not much. I have tried him on Similac Sensitive and it didn't really help. Is this just something he will work out after having the diarrhea?

The only other option I have is soy and I'm hesitant to put him on soy.

Yes, could be!
by: Baby Help Line Response

Hi!

It is actually quite common that babies become sensitive to milk after being sick, so that may very well be what has happened.

Have you tried Similac Alimentum? That might also be an option.

Also, if you are hesitant to soy based formula, you should know that your baby is likely to be able to digest milk again soon, if his intestines get a chance to get back to normal. So it is very possible that soy based formula for a few weeks would do the trick.

However, I think you should talk to your baby's doctor about the situation as well.
