Lavender Festival , Sequim, WA
by Jessica
Summertime is a great time in WA state, the grass is green the air is clean and tons of festivals. Sequim, WA is one of the largest producers of lavender in the state and Being a BIG lover of Lavender, I talked my husband into going to the big lavender festival they hold every year. It was only a 1 1/2 hour car ride from the house and plenty of chances to stop on the way if need be. There are about 10 or 12 farms that paritipate in the festival, so you can wander around the fields or cruise thru the large street fair they have. It was one of the most relaxing festivals I have ever been to, even though it was crazy busy. I put my son in the Baby Bjorn and off we went. We visited 4 farms that day and walked thru the street fair. My son seemed to be mesmerized by the sea of purple flowers and was quite content the whole trip. Every farm has large fields to set up your picnic area and listen to local bands. And call me crazy, but I think the gentle lavender smelling breeze made everyone very relaxed and extra friendly! My son is now 2, and we have added a daughter to our crew, who is 10 mos. and are planning on repeating the trip this year.
