Home Made Superman!

by Lisa Tables
(Detroit, MI)

I remember the first Halloween with my oldest son, Malachi. I was looking forward to taking him on his first stroll around the block with his costume on and his jack'o'lantern saying trick-or-treat! His costume was homemade because we didn't have the money to buy him a brand new one from the store. It actually turned out rather well. He was Superbaby! I made him a royal His costume was ready and he loved it, even though he was too young to remember. But I got pictures, and that is a day that I will never forget.

Snow White & The Two Dwarfs
by: Lanette Kunz

Karate teacher and Ninja; that's great!

I have two sets of twins, so Halloween was always a challenge for us. One year both of my identical (blond) girls wanted to be Snow White - we only had one costume. It was a great costume, one I picked up at a thrift store, that some other mother had laboriously made, and looked very realistic.

So while one was Snow White at school, the other was the wicked queen dressed as an old hag. This was a witch costume (black dress) with an old crocheted shawl, a stringy black hair wig, a blacked out tooth (they loved that, and helped compensate for NOT being Snow White) and even a basket of apples.

After school, when it was time for trick-or-treating, costumes were changed so each girl had a chance at being the beloved Snow White.

Their twin brothers, fraternal twins, were still stay-at-home toddlers. They were dressed as dwarfs, with green sweatshirts, brown corduroy pants, and dwarf hats and shoes (that slipped over the top of their real shoes) made of felt. They were an adorable troop that year.

Maybe next year, they will all be ninjas and teachers - that sounds a bit easier!

My son and I - Ninjas for Halloween
by: Stephane

How cute!

My son was another kind of "superman" for Halloween...

He was only a year old and his dad and I thought that it would be cute for our little bully to be a Ninja for Halloween.

He was the cutest little thing in the world but I realized that the costume was going to be too thin for him to go out trick or treating in soooo... I packed as much clothes under this little costume as would fit without being too tight on him.

After that I was all ready to send him out with his dad to trick or treat when I found out that he had to work and that I would be taking him out. And to put a twist on it I had to take him out with his half sister and her mom and friends. The problem with that was we all had to dress up too and I didn't have a costume!

So I'm frantically running around the house 10 minutes before we have to leave and luckily I found his dad's old karate outfit! So I threw that on and we went to his first Halloween as a karate instructor and a little ninja!

Cute! And here is a video with Superman baby for inspiration
by: Paula

Sounds really cute!

I found this video clip with a baby dressed up as Super Man. I think it can serve as inspiration for anyone who wants to make a Superman costume for a young child.

Take a look at the way the his cape is attached to his onesie rather than around his neck. This should be a very easy project for a baby costume!
