Eye Infection Or What

My 10 month old start getting a mucus at first white coming from his eye. When he woke up he had a build up of yellow around his eye and as the day progresses it's quite watery and a little puffy. What could this be allergies, infection?

Eye Infection or Allergy

Hi Jennifer,

It could be allergies, since you are in full summer over there, or it could be conjunctivitis,
which is an infection. Either way, it sounds like you need to get him checked out. Make sure
you are really careful washing your hands, and try to keep his little hands out of his eyes
(pretty impossible I know!)

You can bathe his eyes with warm boiled water with a little bit of salt added. Use a clean
cotton pad or ball with each wipe. But you may need medication for him so it would pay to
take him to your doctor.
