Eating Problem for 21 Month Old

by Nidhi
(Lucknow,Uttar Pradesh,India)

My 21 month old daughter was always fussy about eating, but still in tits and bits I used to make her drink Milk and other nutritious things.

Fr the past 15 days, she has totally given up milk and other foods. She is only eating Salty Suji. I tried Suji in different forms like in milk, or with vegetables, but she refuses to eat.

Her weight is around 9 Kgs and she is a very active child.

I have consulted many drs. every body says she is fine, and gave some supplementary tonics.

I am really worried for her health, becoz she is not getting proper diet and this is the growing age.

Kindly help me out that what's the problem with her, why has she stopped eating all things except Suji. What should I do to make her drink milk and take other nutritious food?

Tough but Not Uncommon

Hi Nidhi!

I understand that you are worried, a of course as you say, salty Suji isn't the best food for her. However, for what ever reason she has become so picky (tetthing, has been ill?), it is not uncommon that this happens to babies of her age. And it passes!

Do you let her feed herself? Givning her different finger foods is usually a way to stimulate interest in eating at this age.

And even if you can't get her to eat cooked food, at least try to offer her fruits.

Here you'll find more tips on how to deal with a picky eater.

And even if you are worried, remember that most kids have periods like this, and they still come out healthy.

Cut down on the salty Suji as much as you can, don't ever try to force feed your girl.
