Need A Disney World Guide?

Review Of "Beyond The Attractions: A guide to Walt Disney World With Preschoolers"

disney world guide

In November 2009 I was contacted by Lisa Battista, author of a new disney world guide targeting parents of preschoolers: Beyond the Attractions: A Guide to Walt Disney World with Preschoolers (2010) She thought her book, not yet published, could be of interest to our visitors. By coincidence, my sister was planning a trip to Disney World over Christmas with her three kids, 3, 6 and 7 years old. She got interested, got a copy of the manuscript and used it to plan their trip. Below is her review. (By the way, if you are interested in a easy ways to stay healthy and lose weight, check out her blog: Your Natural Wellness.

Our Walt Disney World trip

This Christmas break, we took our first trip to Walt Disney World (WDW). It was 5 of us, two adults, a preschooler, a kindergartener and a second grader.

I did my research; online, library books and spoke to friends. What did I get? Information overload! Despite all this information it was hard to get a good idea on what was appropriate for our kids' ages. The I, by coincidence, got my hands on Beyond the Attractions: A Guide to Walt Disney World with Preschoolers (2010). Now things got a lot easier.

I used the book to decide:

  • Which park to go to first.
  • Where to stay.
  • Which attractions and activities that my kids probably would enjoy.
  • Practical advice like what to bring and useful iPhone apps.

There is a lot of information out there about WDW. Since this book is geared towards preschoolers it made my preparations and decisions so much easier and better.

Was the information correct?

I can tell you if Lisa had written "This might not be right for a preschooler", it wasn't. For example, our preschooler did come out with tears from Haunted Mansion just like Lisa predicted, even if she normally doesn't mind a couple of ghosts.

If Lisa had written that "So and so is perfect for a preschooler", my little one LOVED it. It's a small world was one such place, and just like Lisa anticipated we did end up spending quite at lot of time a Pooh's Playful Spot.

We ended up spending all our time at Magic Kingdom. There was so much to do there. After reading the book the decided to stay onsite at the Coronado Springs Resort.

How about next time?

Next time I will get this disney world guide out again. I will need a reminder, we will probably visit a new park and I will pay more attention to dining.

We took a lot of advice from Beyond the Attractions: A Guide to Walt Disney World with Preschoolers (2010) and we ended up with a magical experience that everyone enjoyed.
