by Krista
(Dallas, TX)

My son is 7 months old and he has had diarrhea for over 2 weeks. He doesn't have a fever. So what should I do?

in most cases, prolonged diarrhea in a baby of this age is caused by new teeth coming in. if no fever is present, try the BRAT diet. Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast. these should firm up the bowel movements in a day or two. If after three days, no progress, check with your physician. Be persistant. To fend off dehydration that comes with prolonged diarrhea, feed the baby Pedialite, or the store brand. Both have the same ingredients.
