Could My Son Have A Cold?

by Alana
(Montreal )

My son is 2 month old and has had a cough for the pass couple of days.

His nose is stuffy and when I clean it out it's yellow. He has no fever, sleeps good and eats good as well. He smiles when spoken to and is up during the day alert. My conceren is when he spits up his milk it goes every where on him and its chunky should I be concern with that? His cough sounds screechy but he doesn't make any weezing sounds should I be concerned? Also one more thing if his nose is stuffy can he suffocate when he is sleeping?

Thanks.

Yes, a cold!
by: Baby Help Line

Hi Alana,

Yes, it does sound to me as if your baby is havign a cold. Not a very bad one, though, since he is eating and laughing and doesn't have a fever.

Continue cleaning his nose and watch for signs that he is getting worse. If he gets a bad fever or seems to have a hard time breathing, consult a doctor.

You don't have to be too worried if he throws up, it is quite common when babies have a cold. And he will not suffocate. But don't give him a pillow. Instead raise the head end of his bed a little bit, using books for example. Than will help him breathe more easily.

Good luck!
