Breastfeeding while Teething

My 10 month old daughter who is teething is refusing to drink breast milk. What do I do?

Baby Help Line Response:

Hi!

It's quite common that babies don't want to eat while teething. They're in pain. Try mitigating her discomfort and continue to offer the breast. Hopefully she'll get back to nursing in a couple of days when the tooth is up. It may also be that she decides to wean, but that is more likely if she has already started to mainly eat solid foods.

Good luck!
