Bleeding with Diarrhea

My six month old baby girl was constipated for 3 days and now she has diarrhea, she is also bleeding slightly with the diarrhea. Also every time she drinks breast milk she has diarrhea straight away.

Is there anything to worry about?

What can she eat to prevent this?

Hi Mom!

If the bleeding continues I think you should take your daughter to a doctor. It is of course likely that bleeding comes from a small wound somewhere due to the constiaption and diarrhea, but it is always better to consult a doctor one time too many.

Has your daughter started with solid foods yet? If she has, you can try try mixing her cereal with a bit of blueberry purée, that is very effective for diarrhea. But be careful so that she doesn't get constipated again!

And if the diarrhea continues for several days, contact a doctor regardless of if the bleeding has stopped.

Blood in poop...get your baby to hospital right away!!! That is not good, don't put it off, call your doctor asap
