Baby With Cold - What To Feed Her?
My baby is 10 months old... she is suffering from cold and she is not at all taking any food which I offer... Baby Help Line: Feeding Tips For Baby With ColdI'm sorry to hear that your little one is suffering from a cold that is preventing her from enjoying her food. The main thing at the moment is to make sure that she is properly hydrated - so plenty of fluids are more important than food. That being said, I know it's quite worrying when your baby doesn't seem to be eating anything at all. I find that a really good chicken broth can work wonders in this situation. It provides lots of nutrients, but in a way that is easy for your baby to consume (you can even give it to her via a bottle if necessary). Here is a recipe for a curative broth, which I think you'll find will work wonders! (On another website, opens in new window) If she's very congested, it's a good idea to avoid foods like yogurt, milk, butter, cream and cheese - plus refined carbohydrates (like white bread, white rice and white pasta). These can all make the problem worse. As her appetite begins to perk up a little, try offering foods high in vitamin C and foods with lots of beta-carotene (these tend to be orange/red foods like pumpkin, sweet potatoes and watermelon). These can all help relieve congestion - as can the addition of garlic! I hope this helps and that she's feeling better soon.
