Baby Help Line Response:
Hi Cherry!
I can understand that you're worried; 11 days without pooping is quite long for a 9 months old baby. Other than not pooping, is your baby showing signs of constipation, such as discomfort, tummy pain or straining? Unless you are mostly breastfeeding, your baby is probably constipated.
Things you can try are to eliminate all foods that can be make the stools hard like bananas, dairy products, carrots and blue berries and give your baby plenty of prunes, pears, kiwi and water (or breast milk). It may be that your baby will need a suppository or even a baby laxative, but I would not try that if I was you without consulting your baby's health care provider first.
Generally, constipation in not dangerous, but can be painful and once your baby has pooped this time, try to avoid foods that make the stools hard for a while. Also think back if you have made any major changes to your baby's diet in that past two weeks and reverse that. If you want to increase the amount of solid foods that your baby eats and if that could be the problem, then go slowly!
Could any of this help your situation? Otherwise get back to me and I'll try to help you some more!

5 month old don't poop for 10 or 11 days by: Anonymous
My 5 month old grandson does not poop for 10 or 11 days and that is with stimulation . He is not constipated as it is very soft and almost runny. the dr. says it is normal but he is breast fed and i have had 3 breastfd babies and this was not the case for me. I am worried, don't we need to see a specialist?

Normal! by: Baby Help Line - Paula
Hi!
For a breastfed baby YES it is normal. Breastmilk is very easy to digest and "older babies", say from 2,5 months and up often poop very rarely when feeding only breast milk. So een if yur kids didn't poop rarely it is very common. Two of my three kids actually had periods when it was up to 14 days between the bowel movements, and the first time it happened I was very worried too. But breastfed babies almost can't be constipated and there is no reason at all to worry.
Just enjoy this time of very few dirty diapers. The minute you start with solid foods it will all change.
