Baby Eye Infection

by Cheryl

My baby has red puffy eyes for the past week - took him to a GP twice who said that it is an eye infection and was given an ointment to apply to his eye - this is not helping - he rubs his eyes continuously and is very restless and cries - what should I do??

Keep giving him his antibiotic ointment. If it is not better in about two days take him back to doctor, they may need to give him another type of medication. To help his symptoms you can try a cold compress or washcloth on his eye. This will reduce the redness and inflammation. If it is bothering him so much he can not sleep in the evenings then you may want to try a little Tylenol to help him rest. It hope he feels better soon.
