Annie Desantis

Annie DesantisHi,

I'm Annie Desantis, and I'm really excited to be accepted to help Paula answer questions on her website.

So what makes me an expert? Actually, as a parenting coach I mostly see my role as empowering parents to trust in their own intuition - to become your own expert! But we also all need a bit of practical information at times, or a bit of reassurance. Parenting is not always a walk in the park!

Firstly, my passion is inspiring parents. Our babies are the most amazing miracle ever and I believe raising a child is one of the most important things you will ever do. But our lives are so busy, and information is so confusing, and each child is unique. Most of all, we want to do the best possible thing for our children.

I have a background in early childhood education, I am a Parenting Coach, Psychotherapist, and have run numerous courses and coaching programs. But most important of all, I am a parent of two adult children and two step children, and now, the light of my life, my gorgeous little grand-daughter Mia. So I have a wealth of experience and training that I hope you will put to good use here on Paula's Baby Help Line!

I also run my own website: www.law-of-attraction-parenting.com and you are welcome to pop by sometime and see what I am up to.

I'd love you to leave me any comments or ask me questions about what I do, but your baby questions need to asked via the Baby Help Line form.

Wishing you Joy in your parenting Journey,
Annie D

My daughter does not want me
by: Sanjukta

Hi Annie,
I am a first time mother to an amazing 7 month baby girl and recently re-joined work full time. I love my work but had initially planned to take a year-long break to raise her. However, due to financial difficulties, I had to rejoin when she was 5 months old. I live in a joint family with my in-laws, so when I am not around she is looked after by a baby-sitter who takes care of her baths and feeding and by my MIL who plays with her.

Initially she used to be overjoyed to see me when I used to rush home from work. We used to spend a lot of time together. But, I guess for the past 5 or 6 days, she refuses to come to me. She now prefers to be with my FIL or MIL, who she didn’t get along with much earlier, and raises her arms to welcome them.

Although my in-laws show outward sympathy, I believe they are quite happy that she has chosen them over me. They used to earlier say that that is what they intend to do. Like in a game of hockey or cricket, where there are two teams, they have neatly divided themselves, their son and my baby into one team and me in the adversary team.

This attitude, to say the least, is immature and harmful for the baby. Earlier, and I still do on holidays and weekends, I used to give her a bath, feed her, play with her, take her out and comfort her, but because I am at work the bathing and feeding aspects are taken care of by the baby sitter.

However, I still try to teach her new things, comfort her and feed her in the evenings. But I am so heartbroken that she refuses to be with me.

I know I am supposed to love her and not expect her to love me back, but it is so hard to do precisely that. And my in-laws just don’t let me spend time with her. Always they want to take her away and she is more than willing to oblige.

I have had, and still do, a troubled relationship with my mother (where she has always been distant and cold with me) and I had always aspired for a warm relationship with my child. But she doesn’t want me. I don’t know what to do. Please help.

Thanks,
Sanjukta

Editor: Sanjukta, I am so sorry to hear about your troubles. Babies do prefer other people sometimes, and even though it can be very painful, it doesn't mean your baby doesn't love you. Take a moment to read the very, very long comment thread here, with parents sharing that theor baby rejects them. You 'll find many tips there on how to deal with the situation.

Hug to you!

My almost one year old daughter lately has been shivering every 30 minutes. Vomiting numerous times a day, and not eating. Do you have any idea why? Or what's going on with her??

strange behavior
by: Anonymous

My grandson is 9 weeks old. He will be lying there cooing and smiling while I am bending over talking and looking at him. All of a sudden he has a look of terror on his face and then cries hard. I console him pick him up, caress him on his little head, or other things then he is ok. He looks at the ceiling and walls a lot. I know that is probably nothing cause he is so young. But the terror thing bothers me. It happens about once a day. What do you think?

Not agree at all!!!
by: Anonymous

They are paid to watch carefully your child, you should get your child back with no bruises at all...
How come at home my kids get no bruises at all, they smile all the time by the way, and everytime i get them back from childcare they get thousand of bruises....and never a smile on their face on pictures, strange!!!!
I am not agree with this at all!!!
They should watch your kids, and you should be able to get them back entirely!!!!!

Dear Annie,

I just rev'd your comment regarding our Grandaughter screaming with getting her diaper changed. Thank-you. I have heard some ridiculous reasons. But thank-you for helping.

Thanks

Reply re Annie's free course
by: Annie Desantis

Hi Shaikh,

I'm sorry you had trouble signing up to my free course, those cryptic words are supposed to stop spambots not people! I'll go and check if it is working properly, but in the meantime, if you contact me via the contact form on my website: http://www.law-of-attraction-parenting.com
I will then have your email address and I can sort it out for you and let you know of other parent resources that are being developed.

You may have already noticed I have now got some free parent coaching audios uploaded on the site that you can listen to.

Sorry for the cryptic word problem, I had thought these ones were not as bad as some I come across, that I can't even read, let alone type in!

Wishing you JOY with your parenting,

Annie Desantis
