Am I Feeding My 10 Month Old Enough?

Question:

I a not sure if I am feeding my 10 month old baby enough food.

The last time I took my daughter to the doctor at 6 months she was in the 75% for her weight. She is now ten months and I still have only been feeding her one jar of baby food (fruit or vegi) at dinner time, but she gets a 6oz bottle every 4 hours. She gets a few snacks like the puffs throughout the day, but that's it.

Should I be giving her three meals a day along with her bottles? The other thing is she has a pretty sensitive stomach, so that's why I am hesitant to give her more food because she seems fine with what she gets doesn't act like she is hungry.

How Much To Feed A 10 Month Old Baby

A 10 month old baby is usually very active and needs filling foods frequently. That said, the best clue to whether your baby gets enough food is if she is happy, energetic and follows her growth curves, especially her length curve, since many babies start losing some of their chubbyness when starting to crawl and walk.

At 10 months, milk (breast milk or formula) is still the most important food for a baby. So parents to picky babies or to those with sensitive tummies really don't have to worry about the amount of solid baby foods unless the baby isn't thriving.

If you want to step up on baby food - many 10 month old babies do eat more than 1 jar per day - you can take a look at the following feeding schedules:

I hope this helps,

Paula

HI i have a 9 month old son and i feed him baby food when he wakes up in the morning at lunch and for dinner...when you want to feed your baby is when you would eat so like 7 in the morning 12 at noon and i feed my son at 8 at night before i put him down for bed. you want your baby to get used to eating so your 10 month will have an easy time when it comes to her feeding herself....its best to get her in a routine

Baby food is a waste of time and money

I never gave my son baby food at all. At 6 months they are old enough to start feeding themselves and have much better control over their own intake (not too much, not too little) if allowed to do so. Starting at 6 months he just started joining us for meals if he was awake when we ate. He ate what we ate, in the same form, NOT pureed and shoveled. That simple. At almost 4 years old he eats better than any other child I've ever known, other than the other babies who were allowed to learn how to eat at the most opportune point in their development, that is. At 10 months your baby should be FAR beyond one jar of mush a day, even when going the traditional route. Give her some real food while she still has a gag reflex to protect her!

FEED YOUR BABY
by: Anonymous

At 4 months old I started feeding my babies food.I boiled veggies with a little chicken or meat put them through the blender, boiled some small pasta like the stars strained and added to the puree. My babies loved it! At four months their routine was "7am 8oz of milk, 11am a little baby cereal with milk (preferred Sobee)At 2pm small portion of the food with a little fruit puree at 5pm after their nap bottle of milk
7pm their food again with a little fruit and at 11pm before going down for the night another bottle of milk. At 8 months i started introducing
soft boiled eggs and more solid foods. At 1year
they were eating almost everything we were.
My kids are now happy healthy adults, physically fit and healthy weight.

Start feeding your baby, the portions don't even sound realistic for a 4 month old let alone a 10 month old child, I followed my mothers advice when she said feed your kids well but always remember the size of their stomach.
