7 Month Cries When I Change Her Diaper
by Mom in Distress
My 7 month old just started this crying thing when I lay her down to change her diaper. She used to be the best baby ever. She was always so happy and didn't seem to mind. Baby Help Line: Tips When Baby Hates Diaper ChangeI don't think there is anything wrong with your baby - I think she's being a typical 7 month old and beginning to assert her independence, which is a good thing, but exhausting... This is something we all go through - one minute we have this angelic, smiling little bundle who seems happy to go with the flow, the next we have this opinionated, stubborn and vocal little person who makes her feelings known when she/he doesn't like something. There's not a great deal you can do about this, other than talk reassuringly and hope this phase will pass! And of course, this is the age of distraction. Consider making funny faces, singing and/or having a diaper toy that your baby only gets to play with during diapering. It might just work long enough to get rid of the dirty diapers! A couple of my children have been soothed if I sing to them during diaper changes, but (you're probably not going to want to hear this) my now 21 month old son STILL hates having his diaper changed and constantly tries to sit up while I'm doing it! You just learn to grit your teeth and get it over with as quickly as possible. I hope this has helped - or at least reassured you you're not alone :) Christine Albury More About 7 Month Old Babies
