my happy son

my happy son

My son was born and from day one we had problems with him not pooing, it took days and he still does go days without one.

He was bottlefed but has started to wean as he is never full, but his poo always seems to be either hard and green or runny and green. It's sometimes yellow, but we seem to have more bad poos then good. He also struggled to wind and suffers alot with belly ache am i doing something wrong, his on hungrier baby milk, and has baby hip meals and rice for his age. I just don't like the thought that I maybe making him un well.

thanks for the time.

worried 1st time mum.

You need to let your pediatrician know that he is having so much trouble going to the bathroom. He may want to do an exam to make sure there are no blockages. Once he determines that there are no blockages, he will give you a mild laxative to add to the babies formula to help keep him regular. The doctor may want to change his formula to something easier to digest. Ask your doctor but he may prescribe Fleet mineral oil enemas, they are very gentle and can by given occasionally for constipation relief. You do want to try and keep your little guy on formula at least until he is a year old.

Best wishes to you and your family.

Liz
